01/07/2012: Company fine increase

Increase in camera detected penalty notices issued to companies

Companies are required by law to nominate the person responsible for the vehicle at the time of an offence. From 1 July 2012, penalty notices issued to companies will be five times the amount applicable to an individual. Once the driver responsible is nominated within the specified timeframe, a notice will be issued in their name and the amount will reduce to the applicable individual amount.

For example, a camera detected penalty notice issued for exceeding the speed limit over 10km/h in a school zone will be approximately $1,565 when issued to a company. Once the driver is nominated, a notice will be issued to the individual for the amount of $313.

For more information, see name the driver.
